Is Buying Links a Good SEO Practice or Bad?

Link building is a major part of SEO and that can be done through many ways. Buying links is one of them and most of the webmasters do this for two purposes mostly. Some of them wants to build true backlinks to get higher ranking in SE and others buy links to up their Page Rank.

We know that the Buying links can gift a huge number of backlinks very quickly as compared to the organic method of backlink building but this can be very dangerous for your website that can be penalized by Search engines. Google has officially announced already that if someone buy backlinks to just increase Page Rank or to use these links for spamming, not only these links will not be count for SEO purpose but he will be penalized by the Google.

It does not means that the links, that someone buy, are used for increasing PR purpose. However you should aware that google has very powerful Link Detection strategies. For example If you are overcrowding your Blog Roll or you have gained a very large number of backlinks in no time, then Google can consider this as spamming or they can penalize your website due to violation of their TOS.

So far we have discussed the demerits of buying links but it does not means that we should not buy links. Links are still valid for the ranking but we should keep in mind that we make our links as Google wants. Google has defined very well for those who buy links can make their links valid by (Full Detail)

  • Adding a rel=”nofollow” attribute to the <a> tag; or

  • Redirecting the links to an intermediate page that is blocked from search engines with a robots.txt file

So, we conclude that we should be aware of the right method of buying backlinks and using them in an SEO friendly way otherwise you may get banned from Google.

When should I update my blog?

We know that the new bloggers are very much excited to do SEO for their blogs and most of them usually asks this question that  "How often should I update my blog?"

The truth is that some multi-author news blogs update several times per day, while other blogs are lucky to be updated once per month. This happens because a blogger have not too much time to write articles regularly or he can't post 2 or 3 articles per day.

So finally, when should we update our blogs so that we can meet the current needs of Search Engines just like Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc...
This depends on your blog's nature that what sort of blog you are developing.

  1. If it is just a personal blog that is just for fun, then it really doesn't matter how often you post. You are posting mostly for your own benefit. However, if you want regular readers for your blog, then your post frequency is going to be very important.

  2. If you want visitors to come to your blog every day, then you are going to want to post something on your blog at least once per day.

  3. If you want visitors to check back every once in a while, then posting once or twice per week is probably enough.

But whatever you decide, consistency is the key. Don't update your blog 5 times in one day and then do nothing to it for two weeks. Readers hate that kind of thing. Readers like predictability, so be predictable.

Search engines like Google and Yahoo love continually updated blogs. So if you are looking for a good search engine ranking, you will want to pace yourself so that you can be sure to update your blog on a continual basis.

The key is to find a schedule that works for you and stick with it. If you can only post twice per week, then do that consistently and stick with it.

One thing that can free up time to update your blog more often is to automate other tasks. For example, some bloggers spend more time promoting their blogs on social bookmarking sites than they do blogging.
But remember, the number one key to blogging is hard work. If you work hard, and you stick with it and you regularly post quality content then you will be well on your way to blogging success.
