When should I update my blog?

We know that the new bloggers are very much excited to do SEO for their blogs and most of them usually asks this question that  "How often should I update my blog?"

The truth is that some multi-author news blogs update several times per day, while other blogs are lucky to be updated once per month. This happens because a blogger have not too much time to write articles regularly or he can't post 2 or 3 articles per day.

So finally, when should we update our blogs so that we can meet the current needs of Search Engines just like Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc...
This depends on your blog's nature that what sort of blog you are developing.

  1. If it is just a personal blog that is just for fun, then it really doesn't matter how often you post. You are posting mostly for your own benefit. However, if you want regular readers for your blog, then your post frequency is going to be very important.

  2. If you want visitors to come to your blog every day, then you are going to want to post something on your blog at least once per day.

  3. If you want visitors to check back every once in a while, then posting once or twice per week is probably enough.

But whatever you decide, consistency is the key. Don't update your blog 5 times in one day and then do nothing to it for two weeks. Readers hate that kind of thing. Readers like predictability, so be predictable.

Search engines like Google and Yahoo love continually updated blogs. So if you are looking for a good search engine ranking, you will want to pace yourself so that you can be sure to update your blog on a continual basis.

The key is to find a schedule that works for you and stick with it. If you can only post twice per week, then do that consistently and stick with it.

One thing that can free up time to update your blog more often is to automate other tasks. For example, some bloggers spend more time promoting their blogs on social bookmarking sites than they do blogging.
But remember, the number one key to blogging is hard work. If you work hard, and you stick with it and you regularly post quality content then you will be well on your way to blogging success.

How to optimize keywords for search engines

We all know that Meta Tags are the heart and soul for a website to be listed in most of the search engines.  You must have to be good at it which helps you to get the deserved result. Blogger users must read this article.

Title Tags

Title and meta tags plays an important role in SEO of a blog. An HTML tag with text describing a specific Web page which are written under <title> tag are called as title tags. Usually , these tags contain relevant description and keywords which describes what the current page is all about.

Below are some wise usage of these tags :

  1. You should use your all top keywords in title tag.e.g. You are going to upload a page for Alpha reseller hosting then you should use the keywords like "cheap alpha reseller","unlimited alpha reseller" etc...

  2. Never repeat the keywords otherwise you will be penalized by the google by de indexing of site from Google Search engine.

  3. Never never over stuff your title tags as I saw some websites having almost 100 keywords in title tag

Meta Tags

After having a good title tags and description, there comes meta tags. Meta elements are HTML or XHTML elements used to provide structured metadata about a Web page. Such elements must be placed as tags in the head section of an HTML or XHTML document.

Found in the source code (or invisible background) of each web page. Meta tags are sets of instructions and/or identifiers for search engine spiders to read which describe the content that is included on your web page. Try to create good meta tags and description ofr each page and posts.

You may use Robots meta, Headspace or All in one SEO plugin for these task which are quite helpful. You may also create them manually. For example :

<meta name=”description” content=”Search engine optimization”>
<meta name=”keywords” content=”Search engine optimization, SEO “>

Try to use different meta description and keywords for different pages. Using the same description on all pages might diminish the importance as it is said by some SEO professionals.

Six Things You Can Do To Increase Your Adsense Earnings

Google Adsense is one of the easiest ways to earn money from your blog. Though, we often hear bloggers complaining about low Adsense earnings and how they always keep on looking for alternatives. Well, this is true to some extent as there are methods like affiliate marketing which can make you more money from your blog but provided the least amount of efforts required to create an Adsense account and to install the Adsense code on your blog I feel that even the low Adsense earnings are completely worth it. And, combined with tips given below one can easily increase its earnings from two to three with same amount of traffic. So without further adieu let’s start the list.

Use Adsense Section Targeting

We all know that relevant ads perform well than non relevant ads.  It is normal for a blog to contain lot of irrelevant keywords. For e.g. – if you are writing a post on keyword research and take an example of pet industry in the post.  You’d never want Google to show ads related to dog training on your blog based on that example. Adsense Section targeting solves this problem for you. With Section targeting you can tell Adsense the important sections of your blog based on which Google should show the advertisements.

Use Placement Targeting

The other most effective way to increase your Adsense earnings is to enable placement targeting in your account. With help of placement targeting you can select a sub-set of ad units on your blog to display Google Ads. This information is shown to advertisers who want to show their ad on specific places for the website like top leader board or in a box in right column of the blog.

Use Adsense Category Filter

Remove the irrelevant and low paying ad categories using Adsense Category filter in your account. Take a look at the following screenshot to get the idea. Based on the information given in your account you can easily filter the least performing ad categories.

Use Competitive Ad Filter

Competitive Ad Filter was introduced by Google so that publishers can block ads of certain websites usually their competitors to appear on their websites. But, you can also use this features to block the low paying ads.  Most of the times, sites having poor quality or sites which are made only for Adsense use low paying ads at Google Adsense to get cheap traffic to their sites.  To get rid of low paying ads you have to block the ads of these sites. To do this, create an account on AdsBlacklist.com. Put in your domain name and keywords and AdsBlackList will show you the list of 200 MFA sites which you can copy and then block with help of Competitive Ad Filter.

Adsense for RSS

If you have a decent number of blog subscribers you should try Adsense ads for RSS. Like other Adsense ads, feed ads will be paid either by CPC or CPM.  Feed ads are contextually targeted according to the content of your feed and you can control the positioning of ad using ad placement.

Testing with Ad format and style

Keep testing with different ad formats to find out what works better for your blog. Every site is different so you need to find out what works best for you. Keep on changing size of ad blocks, their positions, ad type (text, image), color and font size and analyze the results. Stick to the style which performs better than others.
So these are the six things you can easily do to increase your Adsense earnings instantly. Do you have any more tips to increase Adsense earnings? Feel free to share them with us in comments below.

Extract emails from excel database

Everyone know the importance of Email marketing. Sometimes we have a forum with lot of registered members. We usually send an email to them by generating a list but most of the companies does not allow to send 200 or 300 emails at once.

In this case this is the best idea to make list by exporting user table of a VB database to MS EXCEL. here I will assume that you have exported the user table in an MS EXCEL file already. Our main concern will be at the emails column.

  1. Insert a blank column to the right of the email column

  2. In the empty cell to the right of the first email address, type = and click on the first email address, and press enter. this should cause the first email address to appear in that cell.

  3. in the empty cell to the right of the SECOND email address, type in =concatenate( and before you push enter, click on the cell immediately above it that contains the COPY of the first email address, then type ,",", and click on the second email address and press enter.

  4. click this cell, then double click the little black box that appears in the lower-right corner. this will auto-fill the formula to the bottom of the sheet.

  5. scroll down to the last line and copy!

Now you can use this email list for email marketing. If find any problem. Please ask in comments.
